The Dermatology Department, Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University has been distinguished by an outstanding experience in Dermatopathology since very long time under the guidance and supervision of Prof. Dr. Mohammad El. Darouti.  With the growing number of certified Dermatopathologists in the department, the Dermatopathology unit has been officially established as a specialized unit in December 2010.

The unit carries the following activities:

1. Diagnosis of all biopsies taken from outpatients and inpatients.

2. Interpretation of histochemical and immunohistochemical stains.

3. Diagnosis of biopsies taken in Al Houd Al Marsoud Hospital

3. Development and delivery of dermatopathology modules for MSc and MD  students which involve theoretical and practical components.

4. Dermatopathology training for residents.

5. Training of junior staff members interested in Dermatopathology.

6. Supervision of many MSc and MD theses which involve dermatopathology related studies.

7. Organization of dermatopathology courses and workshops.
